It Looks as Though the Past is Here to Stay

Black shredded sleeve cut out top: Wilster  Lace bodysuit: Forever 21  Black/white chevron skirt: The Limited  Neon yellow bib necklace: Modcloth  Nude fishnets: Vera Wang (for Kohls)  Studded t strap platform pump: Vera Wang (for Kohls)  Bracelets: Jewelmint + Forever 21

Back to work! I love this top; even if the sleeves are a bit of a personal challenge to get into. Especially in the early morning, pre-coffee.

The first time i ever wore this shirt my darling husband pointed to my back and said, "Wow. You are showing a lot of skin." But i think what he meant was, "You are showing skin in an unexpected place." So in order to not raise any eyebrows at work i popped a lace bodysuit underneath. Which i have a love/hate relationship with. Handy yes, but it's a weird feeling to button and unbutton your own onesie.

Also! Kohls contacted me and is letting me share the coupon code, "BLOGGER10" with you guys! Use for 10% off your total purchase til June 23rd AND you can stack it on top of one other coupon code! Happy shopping!

This is a Song for Anyone Who Can't Get Out of Bed

Neon pink cropped denim moto jacket: Tripp NYC  Striped top: Target  Grey skinny belt: Forever 21  Black high waisted pants: BDG  Silver quilted flats: Steve Madden  Zig zag hoop earrings: Forever 21

It's so easy to take pictures of outfits when you don't have to wake up early or worry about being late in the morning.

Today is my last day off of work (i get an extra day off than every one else because i'm special.) from the long holiday weekend. Sadly it's rather chilly out today. Or not so sadly because i got to break out what i like to call, "The Brightest Jacket in the World".

This is what i scooped up at Urban Outfitters for $9.99 rather than the original $90 they wanted for it. It is way brighter in real life than it was on the website. My retinas were in shock when i first opened the box.

Since the jacket pretty much screams, "PUNK!" i decided it would be fun to contrast it with a bunch of classic pieces. I also kept my make up super simple with mostly nudes and a bit of bronzer. Because i desperately want to have cheekbones.

And speaking of cheekbones i just finished watching the first season of the British "Sherlock" show on Netflix. Absolutely loved it. But wow, Sherlock's facial bone structure is amazingly distracting to me. In a good way. Have you seen it? Do some googling for sure if not.

Trusting my Soul to the Ice Cream Assassin

Faux leather jacket: Target  Purple/Black Studded Mesh Overlay Slip Dress: Sugar Lips  Black tank: Forever 21  Leather moto boots: Nicole  Tan tassel bag: Target  Leather fringe earrings: Urban Outfitters  Ring: Jewelmint  Bracelet: thrifted

I feel like every once in a special moment while out shopping you randomly run into that special item that is 100% "you". Like you've been wasting your time until that moment and if you could just find pieces like that more often...well, you'd have a lot less stuff.

Or maybe that's just me.

Anyhow! That's how i felt the day i found this dress. It happened a year ago at Nordstrom Rack. Even better it was something at Nordstrom Rack that i liked and could buy while still being able to continue to afford feeding myself (this is a joke.).

I wore this today for a day of errand running. It was one of those days weather wise where the morning starts off cooler but the weatherman tells you it plans to reach 80. To me that usually equals: sleeveless dress + cute jacket (or tough jacket, rawr!).

I hope everyone is having (or had?) a great Memorial Day weekend! Until next time!

Fashion crush: Don't Trust the "B" in Apt. 23

As a lot of my current tv shows are coming to a close i randomly decided to try, "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23" on Hulu because it wouldn't stop pushing it on it me. Surprisingly i actually find it quite enjoyable. But what i enjoy even more is Chloe's wardrobe
A blue leopard trench coat?! Dying. Swooning. What don't i already own one??

Colorful leather jackets with girly dresses?! Done and done.

Oh hello beautiful Dolce & Gabbana star dress. Hello sunglasses i also want.

Leopard headscarf and a cocktail in hand? Yes please!

And last but not least. This dress. Is crazy. So of course i adore it.

There are plenty of more awesome pieces she wears. It seems like every episode so far i see at least one thing i'm oogling. The show itself is actually pretty funny too so maybe check it out on Hulu and you'll enjoy it as much as i do!

She's a Rainbow

Floral pastel dress: H&M  Neon yellow bib necklace: Modcloth  Mint green lace socks: Forever 21  Tan platform sandals: Target

So this is really different from my normal style. I don't wear this silhouette of dress...ever. I'm not a bag fan of flower prints (unless it's roses. i'm a sucker for a good rose print). But for whatever reason this dress really appealed to me.

I tried to calm down the va-va-voom of the clingy dress by bringing in playful socks and sandals. And i enjoy that while it is very form fitting it is neither low cut or short.

Stay classy San Diego!
(i don't know about you but i am pumped for Anchorman 2)

I See Your Light From Miles Away

Grey studded tank: Forever 21  Black cami: Kohls  Blue plaid shirt: thrifted  Black high waisted shorts: Express  Tan tassel bag: Target  Cat eye sunnies: Target  Necklace: Jewelmint  Bracelets: thrift and Ebay  Ankle buckle boots: Dolce Vita (for Target)

Another casual look today as i do not work. I Put together this 90s feeling outfit by wrapping a plaid shirt around my waist! I've had this plaid top in my closet forever and it kind of got forgotten about but i'm glad i didn't get rid of it because today it was perfect!

You know what else would really be perfect here? A black suede tassel bag. I really want one but since i am not shopping for the month of May (said through clenched teeth), i guess it will have to wait.

Actually i have shopped once this month. But Urban Outfitters lowered a price of a jacket i had my eye on from $90 to $9.99. So, yeah. How could i have not bought that? I'm pretty sure anything below $10 doesn't even count.

I wore this outfit for running errands. I recently found out that there are black flowers. Being the weirdo that i am, i think that's amazing and had to go out and buy some to plant. I am not a gardener of any kind and i normally don't mess with that kind of thing but i'm going to give it a shot!

Wish me luck that i can keep them alive!

Where is the Line With You

Striped sheer top: Forever 21  Black bralet: Forever 21  Suspenders: Ebay  Braided leather belt: thrifted  Brown boater hat: Ebay  Maroon high waisted cut off shorts: DIY (seriously, i cut, distressed, sewed and dyed these babies)  Boots: Diba

So here's how i took the same shirt from Friday and transformed it into a grungier look. This outfit is very "me". I love, love suspenders yet i don't wear them nearly enough!

I made these shorts last summer and it was my first experience working with dye. I love how they turned out (they were originally just blue denim) so i'm hoping to find more high waisted denim in my size while thrift store shopping so i can dye more! I'm thinking a multi colored beautiful tie dye mess for my next pair.

The flea market ended up being a bit of a bust. Not nearly as big as i thought it was going to be and everything that i liked was way more than i was willing to pay (oh hey you have this marked at $30? Will you take $5?). But afterward we went to the Farmer's Market and that was lots of fun. Plus it was a beautiful day so it was wonderful just to spend it in the sun!

And All the Wine is All For Me

Sheer striped top: Forever 21  High rise orange trousers: Forever 21  Brown leather bag: thrifted  Nude wedges: Target  Gold earrings: Modcloth  Key bracelet: Ebay  Rings: Jewelmint + F21

Sorry if the wrinkles offend you; these pants don't stay crease free for long! I wore this to work. Temps reached 90s today but crazy windy so i opted for this sheer top (with a cami underneath) and my orange pants. Super easy!

I don't normally go for things with big bows on them but i am a sucker for bold stripes and sheer items. I'm planning to wear this top tomorrow too only i'm going to grunge it up a bit for a weekend look. Excited!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm headed to what is supposed to be a rather large flea market (never been there before) tomorrow morning so i have my fingers crossed that i will have luck finding some new glorious treasures!

Spiked Heels Make a Hole in a Lifeboat

Printed blazer: thrifted  Grey tank: Target  Black high rise pants: BDG  Studded bottom bag: Ebay  Orange-red pumps: BDG  Spike choker: Forever 21 Clock face ring: H&M

Worn to work today! This blazer is special to me because it was one of my very first thrift store finds. I haven't worn it in a long time but i am attempting to not shop for the month of May so i decided it was time to bust it out again.

I wore a few interesting outfits (if i do say so myself) from the last post to this one but sadly i show up to most of life chronically late thus no time for photos. It's not my intention but it happens anyway.

Trying to decide what i want to do with my hair. Parts of it are decidedly orange. Not good. I think i may redo the pink once more and then be done with it. I didn't realize it would be quiiiiiite so much maintenance. Now i see the appeal of ombre.

DIY: Bleached Out Dip Dye

Dip Dye is a fun summer trend that you can easily do yourself at home! Last year i made myself a pair of shorts (before this blog, sorry!) so this year i thought i'd take an old dress and make it "new".
Here's how!

Step 1: Supplies
You'll need Rit Color Remover, bleach, A large pot (no teflon coating!), a wooden spoon and a small container for bleach to go in.

Step 2: Prep
Fill your pot with water, dump a small amount of color remover in, stir and bring to a simmer.
While you're waiting for the water to heat up, take the garment you wish to dip dye and get it completely wet.

 Step 3: Here we go!
Once you're water is simmering take your garment and dunk into the pot however high you want the color fading to begin. Leave your garment in for 5 minutes, stirring and moving around constantly so all fabric gets bleached.

Step 4: Almost done!
After 5 minutes was done i left 1/2 of my dress in the color remover for another 5 minutes in an attempt to get a ombre effect. Keep stirring and moving your garment around the whole time. After 5 minutes is up very carefully take out your garment (it's hot!) and rinse with cold water in the sink.

Step 5: Bleach
Take your damp garment and dip 1/4 of it in bleach for 3-5 minutes. Please be careful when working with bleach! After that time is done take your garment and promptly wash by itself to stop the bleaching process.

Step 6: You're Done!
Here are the before and after shots! I love how it gave a trendy twist to an old dress.

Things to Keep in Mind:

The dress i used was 100% cotton. You'll have best luck on natural fiber fabrics.

Synthetic threads will not bleach.

Bleach weakens fabrics. Which is why i used color remover for most of this project. Don't keep your garment in the bleach for too long or you may have a torn up item greeting you when your washing machine is done (yes this has happened to me).

Have fun! Let me know if you have any questions!
